Estimate your monthly payment

Move the slider, pick a term and an example APR to see an estimated payment and the total you would repay. The math uses a standard fixed-rate amortization formula; lenders set the actual rate, fees and term.

01

How the yendo payment estimate is calculated

The calculator above uses the standard amortization formula: it spreads the loan amount and interest across equal monthly payments, so each installment covers that month's interest first and the rest reduces the balance.

In plain words, the formula takes three inputs: the amount you borrow, the APR divided into a monthly rate, and the number of months. It finds the one fixed payment that brings the balance to exactly zero on the last due date. Early payments are mostly interest; later payments are mostly principal, because interest is charged only on what you still owe.

Here is how that looks on the $1,000 personal loan example at 19.99% APR over 12 months. The monthly rate is about 1.67%, so the first month's interest is roughly $16.66. Of the $92.63 payment, about $75.97 goes to principal, leaving about $924 owed. In the second month, interest is charged on that smaller balance, so a little more of the same payment reduces principal. By the final month, almost the entire payment is principal.

That is the same method most lenders use for a fixed-rate personal loan, which is why the result is a useful starting point when you weigh yendo personal loan offers. It is still an estimate. Your real payment depends on the APR a lender quotes, any origination fee and the exact first due date.

Worked examples at common amounts

At a 19.99% APR, a $500 loan over 6 months costs about $88.26 a month, a $2,000 loan over 24 months about $101.78 a month, and a $4,000 loan over 36 months about $148.63 a month.

AmountTermEst. monthly payment at 19.99% APREst. total interestDetails
$5006 months$88.26$29.55$500 loan options
$1,00012 months$92.63$111.56$1,000 loan options
$2,00024 months$101.78$442.76$2,000 loan options
$3,00024 months$152.67$664.15$3,000 loan options
$4,00036 months$148.63$1,350.82$4,000 loan options

Notice the last two rows. The $4,000 personal loan has a lower monthly payment than the $3,000 personal loan only because its term is a year longer, and it costs roughly twice as much interest. Comparing the total, not just the payment, is the habit that saves the most money on any personal loan.

03

How the term changes what you pay

A longer term lowers the monthly payment but raises total interest, so a $2,000 personal loan at 19.99% APR costs about $223 in interest over 12 months and about $675 over 36 months.

  • 12 months: about $185.26 a month, roughly $223 in interest.
  • 24 months: about $101.78 a month, roughly $443 in interest.
  • 36 months: about $74.32 a month, roughly $675 in interest.

The middle option is the representative example we use across the site: $2,000 at 19.99% APR for 24 months, about $101.78 a month and $2,442.76 in total. A good rule is to pick the shortest term whose payment you could still make in a tight month. Borrowers who share yendo reviews often say they chose a term one step longer than they first planned, simply to leave room in the budget.

04

How the APR changes what you pay

On a $3,000 personal loan over 24 months, moving from a 9.99% APR to a 35.99% APR raises the estimated payment from about $138.42 to about $177.13 a month and adds roughly $930 in interest.

APREst. monthly payment ($3,000, 24 months)Est. total interest
9.99%$138.42$322.10
14.99%$145.45$490.70
19.99%$152.67$664.15
29.99%$167.72$1,025.35
35.99%$177.13$1,251.03

Credit score drives most of that difference, which is why the personal loan rates guide breaks APR down by score band. If the calculator shows a payment you can manage only at the lowest APR, plan for a higher one, because many first-time yendo personal loan offers land in the middle of the range.

05

Extra payments and paying off early

Paying more than the scheduled amount reduces the balance faster, and because interest is charged on the remaining balance, even small extra payments can cut total interest on a fixed-rate personal loan.

Take the $2,000 example at 19.99% APR over 24 months. If you add about $25 to each payment, the loan ends several months early and the interest saved can run well over $100. The calculator shows the scheduled payment only, so treat any extra amount as a bonus that shortens the term.

Before you plan on paying early, confirm in the loan agreement that there is no prepayment penalty. Most personal loan lenders do not charge one, but the agreement is what counts. Also ask how the lender applies extra money: you want it to reduce principal, not to be held as an early payment toward next month.

Some yendo reviews describe making one extra payment a year, for example from a tax refund, instead of adding a little each month. Both approaches work. The key is consistency, and a calendar reminder is often enough to keep it going.

06

What the estimate does not include

The calculator does not include origination fees, late fees, autopay discounts or an irregular first payment period, so a lender's disclosed payment can differ slightly from the estimate shown here.

An origination fee is the biggest gap. If a lender deducts 5% from a $2,000 personal loan, you receive about $1,900 but still repay the full $2,000 plus interest. The APR on the offer includes that fee, so plug the offer's APR into the calculator to get a closer match.

Some lenders also prorate the first month, which makes the first installment a few dollars higher or lower. Readers of yendo reviews sometimes notice this on their first statement; it evens out after one cycle.

07

Using your result before you request offers

Use the calculator to choose an amount and term you can repay comfortably, then compare the real APR, payment and total on each yendo personal loan offer against that estimate before you accept anything.

  1. Start with the smallest amount that solves the problem.
  2. Test two or three terms and note the total interest on each.
  3. Try a higher APR than you hope for, so the plan still works if the offer comes in above the middle of the range.
  4. Check the result against your monthly budget, leaving room for irregular bills.

When the numbers look right, the request form takes about five minutes and you are never obligated to accept an offer. Many yendo reviews mention that arriving with a target payment in mind made it easy to spot which offer fit. If you are still choosing between amounts, the pages for each amount, such as the $1,000 loan or the $3,000 loan, explain typical uses and terms in more detail.

FAQ

Common questions

Is the calculator result the payment a lender will offer?

It is an estimate based on the amount, term and APR you enter. A lender's offer can differ because of origination fees, a prorated first month or a different APR than the one you tested.

Which APR should I enter if I do not know my credit score?

Try 19.99% as a middle estimate for a yendo personal loan, then test a higher rate such as 29.99%. If the payment still fits your budget at the higher rate, your plan has a safety margin.

Can I use the calculator for debt consolidation?
